2011-09-02 First Post

Margaret Beneville (and somewhat Liana Mehring) inspired me to keep a blog of my life while I’m in this little country named Russia. I’m starting about a week in so we’ll just go from here.

We landed in London for a few day vacation/orientation where we met everyone in our 39 person group for the first time. After a few wonderful (yet expensive [darn British Pounds Sterling]) and typically English rainy days we found ourselves moving into our dormitory suites in St. Petersburg, Russia; already down two members.

Let’s see… to summarize. My roommate is Chris Bateman, funny and cool. Awkwardly too good with mimicking voices. Suite mates are Jason Mills (Air Force member who was here over the summer, among other places) and Jonathan or as he prefers to be called (now that he is in the motherland) Sasha.

Summarize better Kwan… I’ve started Russian class, and my electives start next week. I’ve played soccer multiple times, and already wandered the city. I’ve seen a fraction of the Hermitage as well as stumbled upon a prison.

To my few readers, please comment as much as you’d like, and I’ll keep in touch. Catch you later. Off to go on a boat ride on the Neva.
