I completely forgot to mention one of the more important exciting things that I had the pleasure to see. The entire study abroad group went on a quick excursion to the South of Saint Petersburg, where Peterhof is located. Or as it’s known in Russian: Петергоф. It is basically the Versailles of Russia. I know… If it is ‘of’ something, then it’s not truly the real thing. Oh well. Nevertheless this summer palace is wonderfully gorgeous. Maybe not as extravagant as its French counterpart, but it’s still extraordinarily beautiful. I don’t have any pictures to show of it, so I guess you’ll have to go visit this beautiful coastal royal retreat along the Baltic sea. Filled with fountains, forests, gardens, columns, palaces all of which look as though they have been uprooted from their original homes in Western Europe and collaged together here in Russia.
