2011-09-19 Bright Start To A New Week

In Russia, the calendar week starts on Monday. Very misleading at first… What I learned today in class:

-A useful phrase ‘купи кипу пик’ which means 'buy an armful of spears’.

-The word 'черника’ which means blueberry.

-That the University does not turn on the heat in the buildings until the average temperature of the day is 4 degrees Celsius. Which essentially means that the night has to be below zero before the heat is turned on. But I’m also told that this happens within a few weeks.

-Стопка means shot glass. It ironically unintentionally has the word stop in it haha.

Wednesday I will have to return to the fields to practice with the Невские Львы, or Neva Lions. The premier American football team in Saint Petersburg. If insurance, liability, and eligibility issues all check out then I (along with my two friends) will be joining the black and gold clad team. It is somewhat exciting, and a ridiculously odd opportunity.

As for today, I plan on going exploring again, because the sun is out, and that is somewhat rare! Пока! (Bye!)
