2011-09-30 Autumn Semester Break

The plan has formulated. My friend Michael Cahill and I are planning the trip for our week break from the semester. It began as a lengthy idea of Ukraine, but due to Belarussia’s ridiculous bribery policy (they throw anyone off the train who doesn’t bribe them to stay on even if they have the visa), we’ve decided to travel from Moscow to Riga, Latvia. From Latvia we will likely visit Vilnius, Lithuania as well. Then return home to Saint Petersburg through Estonia. At least that’s the plan. The majority of the schedule has been left open for interpretation. We may travel to the western area of Lithuania and Latvia, and possibly Kaliningrad (an isolated pocket of Russia, that looks more like Germany) since we already have Russian visas.

I plan on keeping this weekend much more low key than the last, so expect boring minimalist text posts on the tumblr.

And to leave you on this Friday, I’ll end with a quote from Professor Dmitriyevich. ’…But no, Saint Petersburg cannot rely on tourism because there is a small population of people who hate sunshine.’
