2012-03-11 Falling Behind
Again falling behind. A week since my last post. The boring old same routine Russian life. This Friday I leave for Spring Break. Plan on mixing things up and I honestly cannot tell you exactly where I will be. Hopefully in the Ukraine. But no promises.
Tonight is the Zenit-Kuban game. Which I will be attending.
Have begun reading Doctor Zhivago in order to improve my literary conquests. I believe I have read more books so far this semester than any other semester of my life… sadly.
Women’s Day was Thursday. A widely celebrated and ubelievably important holiday here. In thanks to their woman, men nationwide simply appreciate them. This day is oddly more important than Christmas, New Years, Birthdays or Valentine’s Day in regards between couples. It truly was as if love was in the air across the city. Almost all the single people seemed to disappear, or perhaps they were visiting loved ones, but everywhere one could look, a couple could be found, man lovingly and devotingly doting on his lady. Wondrous. All the older couples finally showed up in the city. I had begun to believe this city was strictly populated with broken marriages past the age of 40, and I was glad to be proven wrong.
I forget which night but on the elevator ride to my apartment I shared it with a group of kids, could not be more than 12 years old. All drinking vodka excessively. Strange…
