2012-03-25 A Missing Post

I realize as I scanned the blog there is a missing post. The final post of the trip, done the morning I left Bucharest for Russia, is actually ‘lost in translation’. Oh well, I will have to tell you about it as the only one who has read it…

It was beautiful. Words bounced through my fingers onto the screen to the delight of your eyes. It was eloquent, as each sentence blended with the next romantically and seamlessly complimenting each other.

Lies. It was in bullet point format. I simply summarized the entire trip. So here I go again. Summary 2.0, for $740 my Spring Break.

  • Kyiv, Ukraine. 4 days and three nights, it was my favorite city of the trip and I would really like to return someday.
  • Kishinev or Chisinau, Moldova. Just under 36 hours, a less than attractive city with few options to offer at the moment in its disruptive state.
  • Iasi, Moldovia, Romania. 1 day, this is a surprisingly pretty city with a spectacular Palace of Culture.
  • Deva, Transylvania, Romania. 1 day, with a quiet citadel.
  • Hunedoara, Transylvania, Romania. Day trip, with debatebly one of the finest and in the greatest condition Gothic castle in the world.
  • Sighisoara, Transylvania, Romania. 1 day, this Gothic town deserves a stop on anyone’s trip through the area.
  • Brasov, Transylvania, Romania. 2 days, this city and  its citadel are well preserved, and is beautiful.
  • Raznov, Transylvania, Romania. Day trip, slowly reconstructed ruins of a castle perched literally on a mountaintop.
  • Bran, Transylvania, Romania. Day trip, a gorgeous castle amongst the even more pretty Fagaras mountains.
  • Bucharest, Wallachia, Romania. 2 days, get through the exterior to the old town, and you will not regret it.

My layover in Moscow hit a bump as the plane froze… I missed Russia. Arrived in Saint Petersburg to a blizzard! Good to be back. Well for those of you fed up with my rambling rants, the next week is yours! Enjoy it, leave the computer, rest the tired eyes, go outside! Stop living through me. No I please invite you to return, and read more about Russia, and eventually my second vacation I take in the middle of April.

Also those of you exhausted by my incomprehensible drivel, enjoy the pictures from the trip which will be uploaded instead of my terribly contrived sentences.
