We went on a Siege of Leningrad tour today. And finished right before a downpour. It is thoroughly impressive the survival of the city, and the reconstruction that took place to create the magnificently wonderful city that exists today. For three years half the city perished in attempt to defend this city from a Fascist army (As the tour guides like to call the Germans) with a sole intent of leveling the city. My favorite monument is of two men, one a worker with a hammer and one a soldier with a tommy gun, looking defiantly and stoically south in attempt to dissuade invaders. This statue looks so awesome, that I wonder on the order form for it (or the memo of the check) simply says, ‘bad-ass’. There’s no other way to request for this statue.

My political science teacher is awesome. He wears a Soviet pin on his jacket, and he was an Eastern Asian Studies Major. He can speak English, Russian and Chinese, and it surprisingly funny.
