2012-03-17 A Kyivan Jog
Okay so yesterday I was surprised at the wondrous architectural nature of the city center. Well today I went on a few mile jog around the city. It is somewhat unbelievable. The weather is warm and sky is relatively clear. Goodness… it is pretty. Basically the city center is Eastern European/Soviet architecture at its finest. The city is built on a hilly terrain which is something I am definitely not used to. It becomes a cliff essentially at the riverbed, where it is basically a giant park. This view from the top is heartpounding, along with the shaky railings, shabby bridges and gorgeous buildings. I have taken a few pictures and will upload them when I am back home in Saint Petersburg.
Another little tidbit for those who are interested in visiting. Ukrainian women are pretty. Yes it is true. I think they trump Russians. Only because while they have the same genes, they seem to be less unhappy and more relaxed here, and they also dress more like hipsters.
The snow is melting away and the weather is fantastic. A quote from Boris Pasternak:
‘At first the snow thawed quietly and secretly from within. But by the time half the gigantic labor was done it could not be hidden any longer and the miracle became visible. Waters came rushing out from below with a roar. The forest stirred in its impenetrable depth, and everything in it awoke.’
